Development and Evaluation of Nano-Silica Sustainable Concrete

In the last decade, nanomaterials made a major breakthrough in concrete industry by providing with unique properties. Earlier studies have shown improvement early strength of that can accelerate construction process. this study, 1% and 2% nano-silica were added to mixtures contain 30% 70% ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS). Adding GGBS mixture showed an increase compressive 13.5%, 7.8%, 8.1%, 2.2% at one day, three days, seven twenty-eight respectively. The increased mixture’s less effectively 4.3%, 7.6%, 4.9% 28 respectively, when compared 1%. On other hand, adding reduced mixtures’ strength. Moreover, deformability significantly, which caused Young’s modulus. flexural had similar behavior as 28-day increased. Nano-silica addition improved microstructure interface structure due its high pozzolanic activity nano-filler effect, is confirmed RCPT results SEM images.
